A spark at the 2025 Nationals
In July 2025, James Leggett, Christina Turner, and George Henry came together at the American Tennis Association National Tournament — each for different reasons, but all leaving with the same powerful idea. Watching talented juniors and adults compete, they didn't just see a tournament — they saw untapped potential.
They saw what the ATA Nationals could become. That spark quickly turned into action. They began envisioning ways to elevate the experience, expand opportunities, and grow the impact of the American Tennis Association. Fueled by that shared vision, they stepped up to volunteer, determined to be part of something bigger.
It was George Henry who proposed a bold next step: why not build something right here in Florida — the home of the annual tournament? From there, momentum took over. They connected with leadership, laid the groundwork, and brought a new idea to life.
Official launch
In January 2026, that vision became reality as the Florida Section of the American Tennis Association was officially launched. Since then, they haven't slowed down — growing, building, and pushing forward every step of the way.
They've assembled a passionate executive board, started spreading the word, and are already looking ahead. From hosting tournaments to supporting junior development and building strong community and business partnerships, the possibilities are wide open.

James was the driving force behind organizing Florida's ATA chapter after seeing the potential at the 2025 Nationals. He leads business development and community outreach.
Christina Turner
Christina brings deep knowledge of Florida's tennis community and leads member relations and club partnerships across the state.
George Henry
George proposed building the Florida Section and leads event strategy and tournament operations — including the annual ATA Nationals presence.
